Research & Debate Society

About the Society

An independent, student-led intellectual platform based in Peshawar.

Our Mission

"Knowledge as a Human Right"

The Research & Debate Society was founded to give students a space to engage seriously with research, history, and the political questions that shape their world. We believe that the habit of rigorous inquiry — reading carefully, arguing honestly, and writing clearly — is one of the most important things a student can develop.

We publish articles, opinion pieces, and research across history, political science, public health, governance, and the social sciences. Our work is written by students and for students, but it engages with real academic literature, real events, and real consequences.

What We Do

Research, Writing, and Debate

We maintain four publishing categories: general Articles, Opinion writing, peer-reviewed Research, and Review Articles. Each category serves a different mode of intellectual engagement, from first-person argument to structured academic research.

Beyond publishing, the society organises debate sessions and discussion events where students can engage with live issues, practice argumentation, and encounter perspectives different from their own.

We are particularly committed to scholarship on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the former FATA region, and the challenges of governance, conflict, and development that define this part of Pakistan — areas that are underrepresented in mainstream academic publishing and deserve serious attention.

Our Standards

Academic Integrity and Open Inquiry

All published work is cited, evidence-based, and reviewed before publication. We do not publish work that misrepresents sources or fabricates claims. Opinion pieces are clearly labelled as such and represent the views of their authors, not the society as a whole.

We are committed to open and free intellectual inquiry. The society does not endorse any single political party or ideology. We believe the best service we can provide to our readers and community is to model what honest, disciplined, and courageous thinking looks like.
